The Unlock Book Fair 2018 is a meeting of the international graffiti and street art publishing scene in two days of amazing publications, talks, launches and screenings. Entrance is free. The fair travels to Amsterdam after two instalments in Barcelona and Berlin and seven offshoot events in cities across Europe.
8 & 9 December 2018
Broedplaats LELY (Schipluidenlaan 12)
6, 7 & 8 December, 20–23h
A great venue: LELY
The fair and accompanying events take place at the ample and light-filled Aula space of Broedplaats LELY, close to Lelylaan station (with railway, metro, tram and bus links).
Evenings program at Vondelbunker
On the Friday 7th and Saturday 8th Unlock runs an evenings program at the Vondelbunker. Events include an exhibition of works by prominent writers and the very special launch party for the Bomber Megazine 30 years anniversary issue.
Year’s topic: “punk and graffiti”
Unlock is a book fair for all kinds of graffiti and street art publishers, but each year it explores a particular topic. This time the topic is “punk and graffiti”. We are working on a companion book to be launched at the fair featuring rare documentation about punk-related graffiti. The events program will also explore this theme, and our Unlock Showcase stall will display and sell a selection of obscure publications on the topic.
On the two days immediately preceding the fair, and also in Amsterdam, the Unlock team brings you the Tag Conference, the academic (and non-academic) event about name writing in public space. Last year’s conference in Berlin delivered plenty of fascinating insights into this largely underexplored field. Entrance is free.
