During Open Monumentendag Amsterdam 2024, Dutch Graffiti Library opened its doors in the Centrale Markthal Amsterdam. For more than 1,5 year, our space is dedicated to graffiti culture — told through objects and stories from the collection, and complemented by exhibitions from underground artists with a street-smart mentality. But now it’s time to move forward!
A refined direction
Over the past months, we’ve learned a lot about what it means to shape our dream in one fixed location. We discovered how important accessibility is, how your surroundings influence what you do and how valuable the people around you are. We’ve been positively surprised by the strong commitment from the graffiti community, the interest from people in the fields of culture, heritage, and media and the opportunities that on our way now.
It also became clear how important it is to keep moving: to organize things, keep experimenting, and create a vibe that truly fits. These experiences—together with the current developments around the Centrale Markthal in Amsterdam—are leading us to refine our direction.
We are leaving the Centrale Markthal
Our doors will remain open to visitors until Sunday, November 30, 2025 (see visit-us). After that date, our space will no longer be accessible, and we will focus on joining existing initiatives in 2026, starting new projects, sharing knowledge, and appearing in places where you wouldn’t immediately expect us.
Keep an eye on our updates—exciting new things are coming!
